The Patient Record: Your Patient's Complete Clinical File
Great veterinary care starts with an organized, accessible health history. The Patient Record in Veetz is the heart of your clinical routine: it gathers identification, physical details, genealogy, behavior, legal information for wildlife and exotic patients, and the animal's full clinical follow-up — all in one place, accessible from any device.
With an electronic patient record, you leave paper behind, find any patient in seconds, and give pet owners the confidence that nothing about their companion's health is ever lost.
Finding Your Patients
- On the left-hand sidebar, click Animals Management.
- Click Explore Animals.
The list shows each patient with its photo, species and breed, Owner, Birthdate, and a Status badge (Alive or Inactive). From the action bar you can:
- Search by name, with suggestions as you type.
- Add a new patient.
- Export the list to Excel.
- Print the list.
Click on any row to open the full record.
The Record at a Glance
On the left side of the record you will find the patient's photo and a quick summary: the current age (calculated automatically from the birthdate) and the species. Upload a photo — it makes identification instant, both here and in the patient list.
The rest of the record is organized in tabs: Registration, Medical History, and Immunize.
Registration Tab
Main Details
- Name (required): The patient's name.
- Generate Name: Can't decide on a name for the new puppy or kitten? Click this button and the artificial intelligence built into Veetz suggests a creative, easy-to-pronounce name — a delightful moment to share with the owner.
- Birthdate: Used to calculate the age shown across the system.
- Species: Search the species base and select. Not listed? Click the + button beside the field and register it on the spot.
- Gender and Breed: The breed list adapts to the selected species, and breeds can also be added on the fly with the + button.
- Owner: Link the patient to its owner — essential for contact and communication. Use + to register a new owner without leaving the record, and the info button to view the owner's contact details.
- Responsible Veterinarian: The patient's reference doctor within your practice.
Identification
- Microchip or Tag and Microchip Manufacturer: Official identification of the animal — indispensable for travel and safety.
- Birth Registry Number and Registry Office: Registration data for purebred animals, with a Registry Office Validated switch to confirm verified documents.
Outer Details
This section groups expandable panels covering every other aspect of the patient:
- Characteristics: Color, size, fur type, coat pattern, ear type, and tail type. Several of these lists accept quick additions with the + button.
- Genealogy / Pedigree: Link the records of the Father, the Mother, and the Breeder of origin — your patient's family tree, built from records you already have.
- Origin and Behavior: State and country of origin, special needs, temperament, behavior type, and free-text observations.
- Reproductive & Life Status: Switches for Neutered, Sterilized, and Alive — when a patient passes away, you can record the date while preserving the full history.
- Wildlife / Exotic: See the dedicated section below.
- Notes and Weight & Feeding: Quick access to the patient's clinical notes, weight history, and feeding follow-up, right inside the record — see Weight, Feeding & Clinical Notes.
Wildlife and Exotic Patients
Veetz is prepared for the routine of wildlife and exotic animal medicine. Turn on the Wild Origin switch and dedicated fields appear:
- Capture Location: Where the animal was captured or rescued.
- Permit Type and Permit Number: The license from the competent environmental authority.
- Specimen Use Type: The animal's classification of use — conservation, research, exhibition, or companionship.
With these fields, clinics, rescue centers, and zoos keep their legal documentation organized alongside the clinical file.
Species, breeds, colors, sizes, fur types, behavior types, permit types, and more are managed lists. Administrators can curate them in the patient attribute settings, and most can be extended right from the record with the + buttons.
Medical History Tab
The clinical life of the patient lives here:
- Anamnesis: All the clinical interviews recorded for the patient — see Recording an Anamnesis.
- Prescriptions: Every prescription issued for the patient — see Issuing Digital Prescriptions.
Immunize Tab
The patient's digital vaccination card: vaccines applied, batches, and upcoming doses — see Using the Digital Vaccination Card.
Patient records are available to members of a Veetz subscription. Deleting a patient record is reserved for administrators, protecting your clinical history from accidental loss.
Next Steps
