Recording an Anamnesis During the Consultation

The anamnesis is where clinical reasoning begins. In Veetz, writing one is fast, structured, and flexible: your standard questions are one click away, you can dictate instead of typing, and exam images live right inside the clinical text.

Where Anamneses Live

Open the patient's record and go to the Medical History tab. The Anamnesis panel lists every interview recorded for the patient, with the Veterinarian, the Date, and the Chief Complaint of each one.

To start a new anamnesis, open the Save button's dropdown menu at the top of the record and choose Add anamnesis.

Writing the Anamnesis

Chief Complaint

Start with the Chief Complaint (required): the reason for the visit, in the owner's words — "vomiting for two days", "limping on the right front leg". It identifies the anamnesis in the patient's history at a glance.

The Clinical Text Editor

Below the chief complaint, a full text editor is at your service, with formatting (bold, lists, alignment, colors) plus a toolbar of veterinary shortcuts:

  • Insert date (today): Stamps today's date into the text.
  • Insert predefined anamnesis questions: Adds your practice's standard questions as a ready-to-fill table — configured once in the Anamnesis Template.
  • Build Anamnesis Questions: Opens the template settings right from the consultation, so you can adjust your questions on the spot.
  • Select and insert image: Places an attached image (an X-ray, a skin photo) directly into the clinical text.
  • Create medical prescription: Finished the interview and ready to treat? Jump straight into a new prescription without leaving the flow.

Dictate Instead of Typing

Click the microphone button at the bottom of the form and speak — Veetz transcribes your words directly into the anamnesis text. During a consultation with your hands busy, dictation keeps the record moving.

Attachments

Upload exam files and photos with the Upload button. Each attachment can be downloaded later, inserted into the clinical text as an image, or removed.

Saving

Click Save and the anamnesis joins the patient's medical history, identified by date, veterinarian, and chief complaint.

Consistency starts before the consultation

The richer your anamnesis template, the faster and more complete every interview becomes — set it up once and the whole team benefits.
