Receiving a Payment
This is the moment the counter cannot afford to lose: the client is ready to pay. Veetz makes receiving fast for the simple case — one method, full amount — and just as comfortable for the real-life ones: a bill split between Pix and card, cash with change, an account paid half today and half next visit.
Where a Receipt Starts
There are two ways to open the receiving dialog:
- At the Point of Sale: with the account ready, click Close and receive. The sale is closed commercially and the receiving dialog opens in the same movement.
- From the sale details: open the sale (sidebar Sales → Explore sales, then click the sale) and go to the Payments tab. Click Receive payment. This is the path for sales that were closed earlier and are still open financially.
If the identified client has prepaid credit, the point of sale displays the Available store credit next to the client — a friendly reminder to offer it at checkout.
Understanding the Receiving Dialog
At the top, the dialog always shows two numbers:
- Sale total: the full amount of the sale.
- Remaining: how much is not yet covered by the payment methods listed below. When it reaches zero, the receipt covers the whole sale.
Choosing the payment method
Each payment line has:
- Payment method: choose among Pix, Cash, Credit card, Debit card, Bank transfer, Voucher, Customer credit, and Other. The most common ones — Pix, Cash, Credit card, Debit card — also appear as one-click shortcut chips under the field.
- Amount: how much is being paid with this method.
Cash: amount tendered and change
When the method is Cash, two extra fields appear:
- Amount tendered: how much the client handed you. Use the Exact amount shortcut, or the banknote shortcuts (20, 50, 100, 200) — for example, the client pays a R$ 73 bill with a R$ 100 note in one click.
- Change: calculated automatically. For R$ 100 tendered on R$ 73, Veetz shows R$ 27.
The amount tendered can never be less than the amount being received.
If any line uses cash and there is no open cash session, the dialog shows the warning "Open the cash register before receiving cash." with an Open cash register button right there. See The Cash Register Session.
Credit card: installments
When the method is Credit card, the Installments field appears, accepting from 1 to 24 installments.
Splitting between methods
Click Split payment to add another payment line. A R$ 900 sale can become Pix R$ 300 + credit card R$ 600 — the Remaining indicator updates as you type, and the sum of all lines must match the amount being received. If the methods exceed the sale total, the dialog warns you ("The payment methods exceed the sale total by...") and asks you to adjust the amounts before confirming.
Using customer credit
If the client has a prepaid balance, a Use customer credit button appears showing the available amount. One click adds a payment line consuming the balance (up to the remaining amount). Customer credit only works while connected to the internet — details in Customer Credit (Store Wallet).
Full, Partial, and Resumed Receipts
- Full receipt: when the methods cover the whole remaining amount, click Confirm receipt. The sale becomes Paid.
- Partial receipt: enter less than the total and the dialog shows "This is a partial payment. The sale will keep the remaining amount open." The button changes to Confirm partial receipt and the sale becomes Partially paid. Receive the rest later from the Payments tab of the sale.
- Resumed receipt: if a receipt was interrupted — the connection dropped, the device restarted — Veetz finds the receipt in progress the next time you open the dialog and shows "This sale already has a checkout in progress. It will be resumed exactly as it was started; the payment methods below cannot be changed." Click Resume receipt to finish it safely, without any risk of charging the client twice.
Following the Money Afterwards
Every confirmed payment appears:
- in the Payments tab of the sale, with method, amount, and status;
- in the Payments screen, with totals by method for the period — see Exploring Payments and Daily Totals;
- in the cash session summary, when it involves cash — see The Cash Register Session.
Next Steps
