Working Offline

The internet drops, the client does not wait. Veetz was built for the counter to keep moving: receipts made offline are saved on the device and synchronize automatically when the connection returns — without ever duplicating a charge. A few operations, on the other hand, deliberately require a connection, precisely to protect you and the client. This page draws the exact line.

What Keeps Working Offline

  • Receiving a sale with Pix, cash, card, and the other common methods: the receipt is recorded on the device and marked as pending until it synchronizes. The counter flow is identical — split, change, installments, everything works.
  • Depositing customer credit: the deposit is queued and clearly marked — "The offline deposit is pending synchronization and is not available for use yet." It only adds to the client's balance after confirmation.
  • Consulting the open cash session and the sales already on the device.
No double charge, guaranteed

If the connection drops in the middle of a receipt — or the device restarts — nothing is lost and nothing is charged twice. The next time you open the receiving dialog for that sale, Veetz resumes the receipt exactly as it was started (Resume receipt) and completes it once. See Receiving a Payment.

What Requires a Connection

These operations move money in a way that must be confirmed on the spot, so they are refused while offline — each with a clear message:

  • Using customer credit in a receipt — "Customer credit can only be used while online." This is what guarantees a balance can never be spent twice.
  • Withdrawing customer credit in cash — the dialog states it needs an open cash register and an internet connection.
  • Refunding a payment — "Refunds can only be made while online."
  • Receiving several sales at once — the joint receipt always confirms the current open amount of each sale.
  • Closing the cash register — the session only closes online and after every pending operation of the session has synchronized.

Watching the Synchronization

  • In the Payments screen, offline receipts appear with status Pending and turn Confirmed when synchronized — see Exploring Payments and Daily Totals.
  • The cash register close panel warns if receipts are still pending: wait for synchronization and close normally.
Reconnect before closing the day

Make sure the device is online at the end of the shift: pending receipts synchronize, statuses turn Confirmed, and the register closes without complaints.
